Missing chopper still untraced in Arunachal Pradesh

Guwahati, Aug 5 (IBNS) : The missing chopper of Pawan Hans, which had lost touch with the Air Traffic control in Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday is still untraced, officials said on Wednesday.

Rescue teams of the Army, IRBn, IAF and local police and administration continued their operations in thick forests in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh to find out the missing helicopter.

Four people including the DC of Tirap district on board in the Daulphin N3 helicopter of Pawan Hans lost touch with the Air Traffic control after taking off at around 11 am on Tuesday.

Two pilot, one crew member and an IAS officer Kamalesh Joshi were on board in the chopper, which last located through signal at 11:30 am on Tuesday..

The chopper was on its way from Dibrugarh of Assam to Khunsa in Arunachal Pradesh and then to Longding.

"The chopper had lost touch with Air Traffic Control on the way to Longding from Khunsa," a top official of Arunachal Pradesh government said.

“We have tried to find out the missing chopper and operations going on in different probable areas,” the official said.

On other hand, six members of Pawan Hans had arrived in Naharlagun in Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday.
