Ministry sets up Twitter handle to receive complaints about telecom and postal sectors

New Delhi, Aug 2 (IBNS): Union Ministry of Communications & Information Technology announced on Tuesday the launch of a special twitter handle for addressing complaints and concerns regarding the telecom and postal sectors.

The general public and concerned stakeholders can directly tweet to Manoj Sinha, Minister of State for Communications (I/C) and Railways, via @manojsinhabjp.

Launching the 'Twitter Sewa', the Minister said that the Telecom ministry and Department of Post will henceforth compile a list of complaints from this Twitter Sewa and categorize them into immediate, mid-term and long-term complaints.

The TSPs (telecom service providers) are expected to resolve the complaints forwarded to them under this arrangement, he said.

He tweeted, "Complaints received against any telecom operator and Department of Post on my Twitter handle @manojsinhabjp will be communicated to the concerned telecom operator and DOP immediately for quick resolution & better service."

He also added said that the challenge is gigantic as India has the biggest postal network in the world and the number of mobile-phone subscribers had already crossed 1 billion in January 2016.

"Therefore, we are aware that complaints are going to pour in from across the country and in great numbers. But I would like to assure you that Ministry will rise up to this challenge," he said.

Secretary Telecom J.S.Deepak, Secretary Posts, B.V.Sudhakar, CMD Anupam Srivastava and CMD MTNL P.K.Purwar were also present during the function.
