Srinagar, Jan 10 (IBNS) : A militant, stated to be a foreigner, was killed and an army jawan was injured in a brief gun battle during an operation launched by security forces in the Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Tuesday, police said.

According to reports, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Parray Mohalla village after receiving specific inputs about the presence of militants.

As soon as security forces approached towards a house where the militants were hiding, they came under fire which led to a gun battle.

“The fire was retaliated, triggering a brief encounter in which a militant was killed and a soldier injured," an official said.

He said that another militant managed to escape.
