MiG-21 fighter crashes in J&K, pilot safely ejects

Srinagar, Aug 24 (IBNS) A MiG-21 (Bison) aircraft of IAF crashed at Budgam area in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, officials said.

The pilot managed to eject safely from the plane.

"One MiG-21 (Bison) aircraft  of IAF crashed  at Budgam in J&K at  1100 hrs, today.  The pilot got airborne from Srinagar Air Base on a routine training sortie and ejected," read an official statement.

"  A Court of Inquiry (CoI) has been ordered to investigate into the cause of the accident," it said.
