Mumbai, Jun 3 (IBNS) Cooling operations continue on Friday after a fire engulfed large portion of Metro House located on Mumbai's Colaba Causeway on Thursday, according to media reports.

On Friday, eight fire engines and six water tankers were stationed in the area, according to local reports.

The fire broke out at the Metro House around 4pm on Thursday. The Navy also pitched in special equipment and fire engines along with local fire department to contain the flames from spreading out.

The British-era building located in one of south Mumbai's congested areas houses the popular Cafe Mondegar, guesthouses and shops.

Chief Fire Officer Prabhat Rahangadale said that the cause of the fire will be known only after all investigations are completed.

Some local people claimed the fire started on the first floor due to a short circuit.

No casualty was reported.
