Mehbooba Mufti condemns killing of Kashmiri Army officer

Srinagar, May 10 (IBNS) : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday condemned the killing of Lt. Umar Fayaz Parray, the young Kashmiri Army officer from Sadsun, Kulgam, who was shot dead after being abducted at Shopian.

“It is painful to note that the young officer had come home on vacation where he was attending the marriage of his cousin and was

killed by unknown gunmen” the official spokesman of the  Chief Minister office said.

Mehbooba Mufti has conveyed her heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family of Lt. Umar and prayed for his eternal solace, the spokesman added.

Earlier, Defence Minister Arun Jaitley called the killing of the 22-year-old Army officer  an "act of cowardice", adding that the sacrifice reiterates nation's commitment to eliminate "terrorism".
