Srinagar, July 30 (UNI): Strongly condemning attack on senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) worker by unidentified gunmen in Pulwama on Monday, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said taking up gun and attacking innocent civilians will not help to resolve an issue that has dragged on since 1947.

PDP president Mufti said attacking political workers who dedicate their lives to the cause of serving common masses is an unfortunate act.

Senior PDP worker Lateef Ahmad Shah was shot at and wounded by gunmen in Pulwama. He was immediately rushed to local hospital, from where he was referred to Srinagar in a critical condition.

Mufti, who visited the SMHS hospital last night, prayed for his speedy recovery.

Taking to micro-blogging site twitter, Mufti said, 'Attacking political workers who dedicate their lives to the cause of serving common masses is an unfortunate act. We condemn in strongest possible terms attack on our senior worker Lateef Ah Shah from Mitrigam, Pulwama. We pray for his speedy recovery.'

She further said, 'Visited PDP worker Lateef Ahmed who was shot at by unidentified gunmen today. Seeing his daughter break down was heart wrenching. How will attacking innocent civilians help resolve an issue that has dragged on since 1947? Taking up the gun is no solution. '
