Meghalaya road mishap kills 29 people

Guwahati, June 15 (IBNS): At least 29 people were killed when a passenger bus fell into a gorge in Meghalaya's East Jaintia Hills on Tuesday, officials said on Wednesday.

The mishap has left 10 others injured.

According to the reports, the ill fated  bus of Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC), going from Silchar to Guwahati, skidded off the road and rolled down a 500-foot gorge near Sonapur Mandir.

Injured persons had sent to Silchar and Guwahati.

Rescue workers have recovered 29 bodies so far.

Police and rescue personnel are engaged in recovering the bodies and rescuing the injured persons.
