Meghalaya : CRPF commando injured in militant attack

Guwahati, May 31 (IBNS): At five people, including a CRPF commando, were injured when militants attacked a transport weigh bridge office in Meghalaya's North Garo Hills district on Sunday morning, officials said.

A top police official said that the incident took place at Sarangma area at NH-62 in the hill district on the wee hours of Sunday.

A militant group comprised with heavy weapons came to the area and lobbed grenade before opened fire targeting to the transport weigh bridge.

In the militants attack five persons including a CRPF commando were injured.

"CRPF personnel who deployed for security at the weigh bridge had exchanged fire, but the militant group had managed to escape from the area with the help of darkness, " the police official said.

The injured persons were admitted to nearest hospital.

Security forces had launched operation against the militants at the area who involved in the attack.
