Mayawati's birthday cake celebration video draws Smriti Irani's jibe

New Delhi, Jan 16 (IBNS): A video has emerged where Bahujan Samaj Party members could be seen fighting to grab a piece of cake on party supremo Mayawati's birthday, earning a jibe from Union Minister Smriti Irani.

Smriti Irani tweeted attacking the BSP: "See the charishma of Mahagatbandhan, they are busy looting birthday cake."

Social media users called the entire incident as 'cake loot'.

Smriti shared a TV clip of the incident on her social media page as well.

Mayawati's birthday was celebrated on Tuesday.

The cake loot incident was highlighted by social media users heavily:

Rahul Singh Rajawat tweeted: "People loot cake during an event in Amroha, on Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief #Mayawati's 63rd #birthday today. @RahulSi90179878."

One Twitter page named TSR@BLR tweeted: "Madam we feel sorry for these poor supporters who blindly support mayavathi for a piece of cake whereas the lady walks away with big loot when time comes . We hv seen how she has accumulated her wealth."

One Archie tweeted: "BSP workers loot cake & create a ruckus during Mayawati’s Birthday celebrations This is just the trailer of the state of affairs if these goons come to power To all #NOTA & MahaThugBandhan supporters - PICTURE ABHI BAAKI HAI."

Mayawati and the Grand Alliance:

Out of 80 Lok Sabha seats, the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will fight in 38 seats each. Both the parties will not field any candidate in Amethi and Rae Bareli seats, which are traditionally the Congress' strongholds.

The SP and BSP will also not fight in two other seats, which have been left out for other regional parties.

Why SP and BSP did not go with Congress:

Citing 1996 polls, Mayawati, the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister, clearly stated the Congress does not transfer its votes to allies.

The SP had experienced the same during the 2017 state polls, she added.

Congress to go solo

The Congress has already announced it will fight in all 80 parliamentary seats of Uttar Pradesh.

Uttering no bitter word against Akhilesh-Mayawati duo, Congress chief Rahul on Saturday said: "I respect Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati's decision. It is a political decision. They must have taken the decision with a clear thought."
