Mathew Samuel detained in Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 6 (IBNS): Narada News's CEO Mathew Samuel has been detained at the Delhi airport on Saturday.

He was detained by immigration officials and handed over to the police after he arrived in Delhi from Dubai, media reports said.

A division bench of the Calcutta High Court on Friday put an interim stay order on the Kolkata Police's ongoing investigation into Narada sting operation.

The division bench, comprising of Calcutta HC's Chief Justice Manjulla Chellur and Justice Arijit Banerjee, has stayed the parallel probe of Kolkata Police's Special Investigation Team (SIT) until next date of hearing in this case.

CJ Manjulla Chellur on Friday also said that forensic reports of raw tapes, which contains several positive sides and few negative sides as well, had been submitted before the court from Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), Chandigarh.

The court has set Aug 19 as the next date of hearing in the case.

Since Mar 14, news portal- Narada News- released several sting operation footage, where TMC's leaders, ministers, MPs and MLAs were exposed while allegedly taking bribes.

From the beginning, TMC leaderships had claimed that the sting footage was doctored and conspiracy of oppositions.

Following West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's direction, Kolkata Police's Special Investigation Team (SIT) had started investigation into the matter.

It already quizzed senior IPS officer S. M. H. Mirza and Kolkata Deputy Mayor Iqbal Ahmed.
