Massive fire in Kerala temple kills 110, PM visits spot
Modi assured all help in the hour of crisis to the government and the people of the south Indian state.
"This tragedy is very painful. The extent of the tragedy is unimaginable," Modi told reporters.
Apart from visiting the spot of the mishap,Modi went to the hospital where the injured people are undergoing treatment.
Modi met state Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and said the Centre will help him if the ' serious patients ' are needed to be shifted to Delhi or Mumbai for treatment.
The fire started at around 3 a.m. on Sunday, after a spark from a burst cracker fell on top of other crackers kept separately on the ground.
Around 15,000 people witnessed the spectre, people who had gathered to see the night long fireworks.
Condoling the incident, PM Modi had tweeted, "Fire at temple in Kollam is heart-rending & shocking beyond words. My thoughts are with families of the deceased & prayers with the injured."
Similar tweets emerged from Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Congress VP Rahul Gandhi, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and his Kerala counterpart Oomen Chandy, all of whom condoled the loss.
