New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary on Tuesday.

Modi paid his respect to Gandhi at Rajghat in the national capital.

Modi earlier posted on X, "I pay homage to Pujya Bapu on his Punya Tithi. I also pay homage to all those who have been martyred for our nation. Their sacrifices inspire us to serve the people and fulfil their vision for our nation."

Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, was assassinated on January 30, 1948, by Nathuram Godse.

The day is not only observed as the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi but also as Martyrs' Day.
