New Delhi, Apr 5 (UNI) Manipur-based publisher and intellectual Nishikant Singh on Friday joined BJP here in presence of Union Finance Minister and senior leader Arun Jaitley.

Singh is the publisher of the Imphal-based popular Sangai group of newspapers.

"Today, a large number of people irrespective of their background and religion in north east have reposed faith in the BJP during last few years," Jaitley said adding Mr Singh's joining the saffron party is also a reflection of that process.

"Till now, Mr Singh has not been in politics but he is an established personality from the state and is a publisher of popular newspapers in English and Manipuri Sangai Express. I welcome him in BJP," Jaitley said.
