New Delhi, May 25 (IBNS) : A gang of highway robbers shot dead a man and gang-raped four women of his family at Gautam Budh Nagar in Uttar Pradesh in the early hours of Thursday, media reports said.

The incident took place on Yamun Expressway at a spot little more than 60 km off Delhi.

Eight members of a family were  travelling in a car from Jewar in Greater Noida  to Bulandshahr to visit a relative in hospital.

They were waylaid by the armed  gang around 1 am.

Six members of the gang allegedly dragged out the women, took them to a field  and gang-raped them before looting  cash and valuables of the family. A 45-year-old man was shot dead when he tried to save the women.

The reports quoted police as saying that the women have been taken for medical examination and the  post-mortem of the deceased  is being done. Two other teams are hunting for the suspects.”
