Mamata: WB governor Dhankar seeks updates from director security and chief secretary on Nandigram incident

Kolkata/UNI/IBNS:  West Bengal governor Jagdeep Dhankar has sought update from the Director, security and state chief secretary about the Nandigram incident where chief minister Mamata Banerjee sustained wounds while electioneering on Wednesday afternoon.

Dhankar also visited the SSKM hospital in south Kolkata on Wednesday night where Mamata was admitted and now recovering from her injuries.

She was seen lying on a bed in the with plastered from toe to knee on her left leg.

"I had been at the SSKM to inquire about her health condition and had earlier spoken to her at 6.40 pm while she was at Nandigram," Mr Dhankar said in his twitter account.

The governor said: "Sought an update from the Director, Security and Chief Secretary in matter. The Health Secretary and Director of Hospital urged to take all caution."

Mr Dhankar said " Democratic process can blossom only with peace and harmony prevailing all around and all contributing according to rule of law and constitution.All need to ensure a healthy environment and promote wholesome practices."

Earlier, Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee on Thursday warned the Bharatiya Janata Party to get ready to see the power of people of Bengal on Sunday (May 2), the day of counting of votes of the Assembly elections.

He made the remark a day after West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee claimed she was attacked in Nandigram.

Abhishek Banerjee also tweeted an image of Mamata Banerjee admitted in hospital with her left leg in a cast.

"@BJP4Bengal  Brace yourselves to see the power of people of BENGAL on Sunday, May 2nd," Abhishek Banerjee tweeted.
