Mamata reaches Bangladesh
"Just landed in Dhaka. Happy to be here and send my first tweet from here. My greetings to all my brothers and sisters in Bangladesh," Banerjee tweeted.
"The Land Boundary Agreement between India and Bangladesh is historic," she said.
The Indian government on Friday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bangladesh will 'consolidate and deepen' the relationship between the two nations.
"The centre piece of his visit is the conclusion of the Land Boundary Agreement," Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar told media.
In a significant move, the Indian Parliament last month cleared the historic land agreement with Bangladesh to settle a long border dispute.
"This visit will consolidate and deepen the relationship," he said.
"It would actually help very much in the management of the border. Both countries expect improvement of the security situation on the border. There should be more trust and confidence," he said.
S. Jaishankar called Bangladesh as an 'exceptional and responsible neighbour of India'.
Modi will be in Bangladesh on June 6 and 7.
