Mamata Banerjee will be defeated, says BJP chief Amit Shah in Kolkata

Kolkata, Apr 22 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah on Monday said that there is a clear wave in favour of the BJP in West Bengal and the turnout in the first two phases has proved this.

Addressing a press conference here, Shah said, Mamata Banerjee can see that she will lose.

“Mamata Banerjee’s nervousness is clearly visible. Mamata didi can clearly see her loss in the first two phases. That is why she is attacking the Election Commission. Our leaders’ helicopters are not being allowed to land. I want to thank the voters in West Bengal and assure them that EC is holding free and fair elections and that they (voters) need not be scare,” he commented.

The BJP president said the people of this country have accepted Narendra Modi’s leadership. Opposition does not have leadership. They (Opposition) has not been able to put forward a leader.

On being asked if Prime Minister Modi will also contest from West Bengal, Mr Shah said, “ No, there is no such plan at the moment.”

He said there is no national security vision in Opposition parties’ manifestos:

Mr Shah said BJP has come forward with clear policies such as the NRC, the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, towards Article 370 and Article 35A and against terrorism

He said the refugees who have come from Bangladesh, be it Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, Jains, or Christians, BJP has clearly signaled in its 'sankalp patra' that we will give them citizenship.

Mr Shah said Citizenship Amendment Bill will come first, all refugees will be given citizenship, after that NRC will be made. Refugees shouldn't worry, only infiltrators should. First the CAB will come then NRC, NRC will not be for just Bengal but for the whole country

“We will take forward a zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism,” the BJP president said.

Urging the people to ensure that the BJP wins more than 23 out of 42 seats in the state, Mr Shah said it would ensure that the syndicate raj ends within 90 days in Bengal.

“Time for people of Bengal to fight the fear created by Mamata Banerjee,” he said.

Mr Shah defended the party's decision to nominate Sadhvi Pragya as a Lok Sabha candidate saying the allegations against her are false and the real culprits in the Malegaon blast case have evaded the law.

Sadhvi Pragya, who is out on bail in the Malegaon blast case of 2008, has been fielded by the BJP from Bhopal constituency.
