Mamata Banerjee messages her students' wing to be disciplined on its foundation day

Kolkata, Aug 26 (IBNS): Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Friday directed the leader-activists of her party's students wing- Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP)- to be determined, disciplined, dedicated and devoted.

While addressing the TMCP's foundation day rally in Kolkata, Banerjee said, "Students life is the best time to develop yourselves. Try to be devoted, dedicated and disciplined, and, always oppose CPI-M, BJP and Congress in a political way."

"Student movement is my base and it gave me birth. I would like a student, who will form an institution to employ others, instead of working as a clerk in an organization and I would request you not to leave Bengal for job, forgetting your own state," she said.

Speaking on teachers' recruitment in the state, Mamata Banerjee said, "Our transparent government is ready to start teachers' recruitment in 65,000 vacancies from the day after tomorrow, if Calcutta High Court withdraw its stay order."

Mamata Banerjee requested the Central government to raise medical seats in all states, including West Bengal.

"I want more doctors in state's super speciality and multi super speciality hospitals, as there are huge vacancies, and to cover it up we have increased the medical seats in our state to 3000 from 1400 in last 5 years," she said.

Attacking the CPI-M and Congress in the state, she said, "In the name of Public Interest Litigation (PIL), CPI-M and its ally Congress are filing Political Interest Litigation in courts to prevent us from doing development in the state."

Meanwhile, hitting out the Centre over grants in projects, Banerjee said, "The BJP government in the Centre is depriving us of fund. We will start movement against it, if the problem is not resolved in next three months."

Talking about upcoming industrial strike, called by several central trade unions, on Sept 2, Mamata Banerjee said, "Trinamool Congress does not support bandh and we will not allow any kind of strike in the state, as it's not the proper way to reach a solution."

"I would request you all to keep the state normal on Sept 2. If anyone's shop or vehicle would be vandalized or ransacked on strike day, government will provide compensation and strictest legal actions will be taken against the attackers," she further added.

During the event, Banerjee announced to form a new department- Department for Students Welfare- under the Youth Welfare and Service department.

"As teachers our pride, 20,000 rupees will be provided to all government colleges to observe Teachers' Day on Sept 5 from this year. Several science and cultural fairs, including Poush Mela (the festival/fair of Poush), will be celebrated in all state-run colleges and universities," she added.
