Maharashtra: One more policeman dies of corona in Thane

Thane/UNI: A 48-year-old policeman of the Thane city police constabulary has died of coronavirus here, taking the toll in the police force due to the contagion to two, a senior officer from the commissionerate said.

The policeman, attached to the Ulhasnagar division, died on May 27, and the swab test later on May 30 revealed that the deceased was corona positive, he said.

Earlier, some weeks ago, a lady police constable of the constabulary died due to the pandemic in the city.

Meanwhile, the reports from the district headquarters today said that there was an addition of total 398 positive cases, taking the total number of patients in the district to 8,665.

The reports also said that there were 17 deaths today, pushing the toll due to the disease in the district up to 273.

The Thane city has reported 94 deaths till today, while neighbouring Navi Mumbai reported total 75 deaths till date.

Reports from Palghar stated that there were total 882 positive cases in the district and total 30 deaths so far.
