Maharashtra: Unaccounted cash of Rs 62.68 lakh seized, one detained in Kolhapur

Kolhapur, April 8 (UNI) A 28-year-old man was detained after Rs 62.68 lakh in cash was allegedly recovered when the car he was driving was stopped for security check along Pune-Kolhapur National Highway at Shiroli Checknaka in Hatkanangale tehsil here on Monday.

According to the Shahupuri Police,the accused identified as Shashikant Bhima,hails from Pachgaon of Karveer tehsil here.

The patrolling police team stopped the car in which he was heading towards the city and while checking the vehicle the cash bag was found, said police.

The car driver was unable to answer the questions related to the source of money and hence he was detained while the money was seized, mentioned police.

The District Police Administration has issued orders to step up the security checking in order to keep the upcoming Lok Sabha polls free from shoddy transactions, added police.
