Maharashtra: Two dreaded naxals surrender in Gadchiroli
Nagpur, Apr 26 (UNI) Two naxals, who were on the Maharashtra, Telangana and Chhattisgarh police's most wanted lists, surrendered before Gadchiroli Police, police said on Friday.
The two naxals have been identified as Deepak alias Mangru Sukulu Bogami (30) and his wife Moti alias Radha Jhuru Majji (28).
''They wanted to lead a normal life as husband and wife and so decided to put down their arms and surrender according to a policy laid down by Maharashtra government'', Gadchiroli District superintendent of police Shailesh Balkawde told UNI.
Deepak became naxal in the Jagargunda Dalam in 2001 and was divisional commander of the dalam in Company 5 since 2012.
He faced 17 encounters with security forces and was wanted for 12 murders till date.
The government had declared a reward of Rs 9.25 lakh on his head.
Moti joined naxalites in 2004 in the Bhamragad Dalam and in 2017 was promoted to divisional commander of the North Bastar Company 10.
She was involved in 15 police encounters and two murders till date and has a reward of Rs 9.25 lakh for her arrest.
