Maharashtra power tussle: BJP, Shiv Sena meet Governor separately

| @indiablooms | Oct 28, 2019, at 12:25 pm

Mumbai/IBNS: Amid the power tussle between the two largest parties in Maharashtra assembly, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Shiv Sena met Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari separately fuelling speculations about the rift in the alliance which won the state polls.

While Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was from the BJP to meet Koshyari, Shiv Sena's Diwakar Raote met the Governor.

However, both the parties called the meetings as "courtesy".

Maharashtra power tussle:

After the seats tally of the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance dipped a bit in the assembly polls this year, the Sena is pushing for its 50 per cent ministerial berths and rotational Chief Minister.

As the poll results were declared on Thursday, the BJP and Sena together won 161 seats with the saffron party getting 105 of them.

On Thursday itself, Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray hinted at the 50:50 deal.

Thackeray said, "The Maharashtra Chief Minister will be chosen as per the pre-determined formula. We will sit with the BJP for that."

The Sena may push its young leader Aaditya Thackeray, who has won from Worli by over 67,000 votes, to become the Chief Minister as well.
