Maharashtra Crime: Man nabbed in murder case
Thane, Jul 9 (UNI) The Thane police on Tuesday claimed to have solved the murder case of a youth with the arrest of a man in West Bengal.
Feathers of the chicken on the gunny bag found at the murder site helped the rural police to crack the complex case.
Addressing a news conference here today, the senior Police Inspector Venkat Andale said on June 23, morning, the victim's body aged around 20-25 was found in a partially burnt condition on the Raya-Khadavali road beneath a culvert bridge in Kalyan.
The alleged accused had strangled the victim with the help of a scarf.
During the probe, the police found a number of chicken feathers on the gunny bag found near the body besides the Tabiz on the waist with something written in Bengali helped police solve the crime.
Later, the police got the information that one woman from Khadavali used to come to the chicken seller from Baneli whose name was given as Alam Shaikh. It was also learnt that Alam had gone to Bengal where the police rushed and traced the accused to Saidpur village of Bhirbhum district of West Bengal. He was arrested on Monday night.
The accused was identified as Aalam Shaikh, Janealam Mateshwar Hussain Shaikh (33).
Police said that the victim Moni had developed a friendship with the accused and borrowed Rs 2.50 lakhs from the accused and now she was not returning the money so the accused decided to kill her.
On June 22, the accused went to her house along with his friend and strangled her to death with a scarf and then transported the body on the motorcycle to the spot where it was found in the night itself. There he burnt it after pouring petrol on it, police said.
Police were on a look-out for the second accused whose name was given as Manorudin Shaikh, who was still at large.
