Maharashtra Crime: Man held for raping minor girl in Thane

Thane/UNI: A 24-year-old man have been arrested on Tuesday for allegedly raping a minor girl from his neighbourhood in Lokmanya Nagar Pada No 2 locality of the city.

The accused has been identified as Deepesh Sutar, police said, adding that he and the victim reside in the same chawl.

Quoting the victim's mother, the police said that on Sunday evening, the accused wooed the five-year-old girl to his house and sexually abused her.

Later, the victim narrated the ghastly episode to her mother, who filed a police case against the accused.

A medical check-up confirmed rape on the girl, stated police.

Talking to UNI, Vartak Nagar Police Station senior Inspector S B Gaikwad told that the accused have been charged under the IPC section 376 and The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
