Maharashtra: Coronavirus cases surge above 90k amid 'Mission Begin Again'

Pune/UNI: Maharashtra, the worst-hit state from the COVID-19 in India, reported 120 more fatalities and 2,259 new cases in the past 24 hours, official data apprised on Wednesday.

With the new additions, the state's pandemic tally has now surged to a staggering 90,787, out of which, 42,638 have been cured while 3,289 others have died of the contagion.

The rising number of cases becomes further cause of concern as several curbs have been eased as the state is gradually restarting public activities under 'Mission Begin Again' roadmap.

On Tuesday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation gave more relief to the shopkeepers by allowing them to function for full working hours however the restrain on market complexes and malls has been continued.

Of the total state tally, Mumbai has a total of 51,100 COVID-19 cases whereas the death toll stands at 1,760.
