Thane, Feb 10 (IBNS): Bus commuters in Thane city of Maharashtra had a harrowing time on Friday morning after the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation's (MSRTC's) drivers and conductors struck work following the death of a colleague, according to media reports.

Prabhakar Gaikwad (34), a driver attached to the state transport's Bhiwandi depot, died on Wednesday night.

Gaikwad collapsed in front of a police station where he had gone to lodge a complaint against an autorickshaw driver with whom he had an altercation earlier, according to local reports.

MRSTC employees of Bhiwandi went on a strike on Thursday but withdrew it later when an assurance was given that late Gaikwad's wife will be given a job, media reported.

But on Friday, the MRSTC employees of Thane struck work on the issue leaving commuters, especially office-goers stranded.
