New Delhi/IBNS: Ending all political drama in Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan returned took oath as Chief Minister on Monday and on Tuesday he proved his majority on the floor of the state assembly.

The Congress boycotted the trust vote.

All 107 MLAs of BJP voted in favour of Chouhan. Two BSP and two independent MLAs and the lone SP MLA, who had previously backed the Kamal Nath government, voted in favour of the BJP government. The House was adjourned till March 27, reported The Hindu.

Chauhan was on Monday sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan took oath for the fourth time as Chief Minister after the Kamal Nath-led Congress government fell short of a majority.

Kamal Nath resigned on Thursday just before the Supreme Court's deadline to prove his majority in a trust vote was about to end.

The Congress government in the state fell into crisis after 22 rebel MLAs had submitted their resignations to Governor Lalji Tandon.

All the MLAs are the loyalists of Jyotiraditya Scindia who resigned as the Congress member earlier this month.

The rift in Madhya Pradesh Congress started first with its then senior leader Scindia speaking against his own government.
