Madhya Pradesh: No mask policy for 30 seconds at banks and jewellery shops

Bhopal/ IBNS: Madhya Pradesh police has asked the visitors to jewellery shops and banks to remove their masks for 30 seconds so that they can be photographed by the CCTV cameras as a security measure to prevent thefts and robberies, media reports said.

"The possibility of thieves running away without being identified after robbing shops or banks cannot be ruled out even if these places have CCTV cameras," an order signed by senior police officer Kailash Makwana read, reported NDTV.

"All senior police officers are advised to get the CCTVs in their areas checked and suggest those concerned that good quality cameras are used," it added.

The malls and places of worship in the state opened on Monday along with other parts of the country, as part of unlock 1, more than two months after they were shut down to contain the coronavirus spread.

Both public and private sector banks in Madhya Pradesh functioned during the months of March and April even as the strictest lockdown measures were implemented by the authorities. While standalone shops reopened in May, those in malls have also opened their shutters now.

All workers, visitors, customers will be allowed entry into the malls if using face covers or face masks and adequate social distancing should be maintained at all times, central guidelines for malls have said.

Madhya Pradesh is the seventh worst-hit state in the country with nearly 10,000 Covid-19 cases and 400 deaths so far.
