New Delhi, Apr 29 (IBNS): Actor Sunny Deol, who joined Bharatiya Janata Party recently, is all set to file his nomination papers from Gurdaspur parliamentary constituency on Monday.

On Sunday, he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Sharing an image of his meeting with the Bollywood actor, Modi tweeted: "What struck me about @iamsunnydeol is his humility and deep passion for a better India.Happy to have met him today. We are all rooting for his victory in Gurdaspur! We both agree- हिन्दुस्तान जिंदाबाद था, है, और रहेगा!."

Sunny is expected to face touch competition from Congress candidate and sitting MP Sunil Jakhar in the battle to win the Gurdaspur seat.

The seat was earlier represented by Bollywood actor and BJP leader Vinod Khanna in 1998, 1999, 2004 and 2014.

After Khanna died in 2017, Congress leader Sunil Jakhar registered a victory in the bypoll in October that year.

Swarn Singh Salariya had fought for the BJP.

Sunny is known for his performance in several patriotic movies like Border and Gadar- Ek Prem Katha.
