Law and order situation in shambles in BJP-ruled Manipur: Congress prez Mallikarjun Kharge

| @indiablooms | Apr 30, 2023, at 01:24 am

New Delhi: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday slammed the BJP-led government in Manipur over reported violence in Churachandpur district and said the "law and order has been completely derailed" under the ruling dispensation.

"Situation in BJP-ruled Manipur is disturbing. Violence is no solution to any issue. Law and order situation in the state has completely derailed under the ‘double engine government,’" Kharge wrote in a tweet in an apparent reference to the Churachandpur situation in the Northeastern state.

In a veiled attack on the N Biren Singh-led government, the Congress chief said, "BJP is hellbent to trample and bulldoze the rights of vulnerable indigenous communities. We strongly condemn it."

Reportedly, the district administration has imposed prohibitory orders besides snapping the internet services after protests erupted over the government’s decision to protect reserved forest areas.
