Ranchi,  May 9 (IBNS) :  Bihar's Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, who is  serving multiple sentences in fodder scam cases, was Wednesday  granted a five-day parole to attend the wedding of his elder son later this week, media reports said quoting his lawyer.

The former Bihar Chief Minister, who has been undergoing treatment at RIMS hospital in Ranchi, will be flown to Patna on Wednesday evening.  Convicted in three fodder scam cases, Lalu Prasad was in Birsa Munda Central  jail before beinf admitted to hospital after falling ill.

His son Tej Pratap Yadav, an MLA and  and former state minister, will tie nuptial knots with Aishwarya Rai, daughter of party legislator Chandrika Rai, on May 12 in Patna.

The Times of India reported that  the  parole plea was made after Lalu's hearing on provisional bail application could not take place last Friday due to advocates' agitation in the Jharkhand high court.

Lalu is in judicial custody after his conviction in three fodder scam cases related to fraudulent withdrawals from the Dumka, Deoghar and Chaibasa treasuries.
