Patna, Aug 11 (IBNS) Nearly twenty years after they parted ways, Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leader Nitish Kumar and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav shared the stage at a public rally in Hajipur area in Bihar on Monday.

Campaigning together for the coming Assembly bypolls for 10 seats in Bihar, the two leaders were seen hugging each other at a rally.

Speaking at the rally, he attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre and said people of the country are still waiting for the 'good day' the ruling party had promised ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

" Good days were promised but where are the good days? People are still waiting for it. Good days have not come for people. They have come for some BJP members. When the country is in danger, we should forget our own differences and join hands to make the country stronger," Kumar said.

Yadav and Kumar, who have both served as Bihar Chief Minister, are also likely to continue the joint campaign next week in the wake of by-elections for 10 assembly seats scheduled to be held on Aug 21.

The parties entered into a seat-sharing agreement along with the Congress in which both JD-U and RJD will contest in four seats each leaving two to the Congress in the state.

The by-elections in 10 assembly seats are being seen as the semi-finals with all eyes on the state polls scheduled next year.

The BJP criticised the move made by the two senior Bihar leaders and said it only reflected their 'lust for power'.

"It's the lust for power and threat of defeat have brought them together. Bihar is watching all these. This will unveil the real faces of the two leaders," BJP leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy told media.
