Kolkata: Woman allegedly gang raped in running car

Kolkata, May 30 (IBNS): A woman was allegedly gang raped on Sunday midnight by several men in a running car in Kolkata's satellite town Salt Lake, officials said.

According to reports, the woman, who lives at Baguiati, claimed that four men forcefully took her inside a car from Baguiati area around 11:30 pm. and after raping and torturing her for at least three hours, they dropped the woman near Baisakhi area under Bidhannagar North Police Station limits in Salt Lake Sector V.

Police from Electronic Complex Women Police Station rescued the woman in an unconscious state and have admitted her in Bidhannagar Sub-Divisional Hospital.

"A complaint of gang raping has been lodged. We have recorded the statement of the victim. After initiating FIR, we have started investigation into the matter and are searching for the accused. We are examining road-side CCTV cameras' footage to identify the car," Kankar Prasad Barui, the Deputy Commissioner (Detective Department) of Bidhannagar City Police, told IBNS.
