Kolkata Metro stopped as suspicious movement found inside tunnel

Kolkata, Jun 16 (IBNS): The Kolkata Metro Railway authority has temporarily suspended its service in Up and Down lines between Dumdum and Belgachhia stations since 4 pm on Thursday as a suspicious movement was spotted inside the tunnel, officials said.

According to reports, a Dumdum to Kavi Subhash bound metro's operating cabin-man (driver) found a man, moving inside the tunnel between Dumdum and Belgachhia stations, and informed the control room.

"After being informed about the matter, train service in both lines between Dumdum and Belgachhia has been stopped temporarily. RPF personnel and metro officials have been sent to catch the man inside the tunnel," one senior official of Kolkata Metro Railway told IBNS.

"After catching the man and checking the tracks, metro service will be started again. We are examining CCTV footage. Probably the man is mentally unfit. We will investigate into the matter," he further said.

Due to the incident, metro service has been disrupted partly.
