Kolkata/IBNS: An AC rake of Kolkata's north-south metro on Wednesday afternoon got stranded for nearly 15 minutes inside a tunnel due to a suspected technical snag, triggering panic among the passengers, reports said.

According to reports, shortly after leaving Shyambazar station, the Dumdum to Kavi Subhas bound metro rake had suddenly stopped inside the tunnel at around 3:05 pm. while it was moving towards Sovabazar Sutanuti station.

The train was driven back Shyambazar station where its passengers were evacuated from the rake after 15 minutes.

Metro officials said the incident happened possibly due to a malfunction in the Third-Rail Current Collector (TRCC).

The AC rake, however, has been sent to the car shed for a technical check while services in both directions in the north-south metro line are are currently operating normally.
