Kolkata, Jul 30 (IBNS): A major fire broke out at the old complex (Hogg Market) of Kolkata's iconic New Market on Thursday.
The fire was first seen from a garment shop at the flowers market area of Hogg Market at 8:45 pm.

Police from the New Market Police Station, the Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) staff and ten fire engines  rushed to the spot and began fighting the blaze.

According to sources, the disaster management group, more fire engines and West Bengal Fire Minister Javed Ahmed Khan are in the spot.

No casualty has been reported so far.

New Market witnesses frequent fire incidents with one reported in May this year.

A big fire had burned down large portions of the original building on Dec 13, 1985.
