Kolkata: Cop stabbed, attacker arrested

Kolkata, Sep 9 (IBNS): One constable of Kolkata Police was stabbed by a person on Wednesday noon near Esplanade area in Kolkata, reports said.

According to reports, one person attacked policeman Tarun Dutta with knife when he was on duty in front of the office of Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kolkata Police (Central division) Bastab Baidya at S. N. Banerjee Road area under New Market police station in Kolkata.

However, police have arrested the attacker  Md. Halim from the spot.

During interrogation, police have come to know that he is a resident of Patna and lives at Sodepur area in Kolkata.

Police are suspecting that the attacker is mentally disabled.

Meanwhile, the injured policeman has been admitted to the CMRI hospital and is being treated there in critical condition.
