Kolkata, May 27 (IBNS): Tapan Mondal, a laboratory-staff of north Kolkata's Seth Anandaram Jaipuria College, was injured on Friday noon, during a clash with a section of students in college campus, according to reports.

The attacking students claimed that Tapan Mondal was helping few candidates in illegal admission, after taking money from them. When students went to protest against it, Mondal allegedly assaulted them and molested few girl-students as well.

Thereafter, Tapan Mondal was reportedly beaten up by the protesting students, who were claimed to be Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) activists. He was rushed to a privately-run hospital nearby in critical condition.

Meanwhile, according to Jaipuria College sources, Tapan Mondal allegedly sent vulgar requests to a girl-student of the college on social networking site- Facebook- few months ago and a police-complaint was also lodged against him. He was allegedly receiving death threats, following the incident, from few students of the college.

After a long-absence, when he entered into the college, he was attacked by the angry students on Friday, the source further claimed.

Tapan Mondal's family members claimed that he was a TMC activist and the incident was a clash between the ruling party's two groups.

However, police have started investigation into the case and no arrest has been made so far.
