Kolkata businessman goes missing from Star Cruise in Singapore
Kolkata, Oct 12 (IBNS) Raj Kumar Agarwal (30), a businessman from Kolkata, who went for a Singapore trip with his family, has been missing from a cruise ship since Oct 7, his family claims.
According to his family, Raj Kumar Agarwal, a resident of Mahamayatala in southern Kolkata's Garia area, went to Singapor on Oct 3 with his mother, two brothers, sister-in-law and nephew. The Agarwal family started a three-day cruise trip to Penang, Lankavi and Singapore from Oct 4.
His family claims that Raj Kumar was last seen playing card games in the cruise's casino at 12:05 am on Oct 7. Since then he was not found in the cruise.
After returning India, Raj Kumar's elder brother Praveen Agarwal told IBNS: "Raj and me were in casino on Oct 6. I left the place and when I came back after just 10 minutes, did not find him. Around 6:30 am, I informed the security department of the cruise. After searching for four hours, the Star Cruises authority declared that my brother had gone overboard."
"According to Star Cruises' authority, Raj went overboard at around 12.22 am on Oct 7 at 03 degree 43 minutes North and 100 degrees 33 minutes East, which location is on the Strait of Malacca, under Malaysia's jurisdiction," he said.
The Star Cruises authority and Singapore Police allegedly did not help the family to find the missing member. "Neither the Star Cruises authority nor the Singapore Police co-operated with us. They did not conduct any search operation in the sea where my brother went missing and did not show us the CCTV footage," Praveen told IBNS.
However, Agarwal family is going to visit the ministry of External Affairs. "We have informed the Ministry of External Affairs through Rupa Ganguly. Urging investigation into my brother's missing case, we will visit its office. We also requested the West Bengal government to help us, but unfortunately we did not get minimum cooperation from them," Praveen Agarwal said.
Meanwhile, requesting the Star Cruises Singapore authority and the Singapore Police to provide information on Raj Kumar Agarwal's missing, IBNS has sent e-mail. But, no reply has been received yet.
