Kolkata becomes the first WiFi Metro city in India

Kolkata, Feb 5 (IBNS) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said Kolkata has become the first WiFi enabled metro city of India.

In her first tweet after initiating the service, Banerjee tweeted: "All my WiFi friends, I am tweeting using #WiFiKolkata. So proud to be first WiFi Metro city in India. Congratulations to us all."

The facility is currently available in Park Street area in the city.

In another Facebook post,Banerjee said: "Kolkata adds a new feather to its crown by being India’s first Wi-Fi metro city. Today the services were launched in and around Park Street. Within 2 months, it will be extended to other parts of Kolkata and Salt Lake. Congratulations to our young generation. You can now remain
connected any time, all the time. Industry and businesses will also prosper, taking advantage of high-speed connectivity. My best wishes to all of you."
