Kerala: Two women inmates escape from sub-jail in Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 26 (UNI) For the first time in Kerala, two women inmates managed to escape from a sub-jail in this Capital city.

Police said the two women remand prisoners, identified as Sandhya (26) and Shilpa (23) escaped from Attakulangara Sub-Jail after climbing a tree at 1630 hours on Tuesday. Later, they hired an autorickshaw to flee from the spot.


According to the CCTV visuals, the two women, who entered the bathing area, managed to escape from there. The incident came to light when a headcount was completed last evening.


They were remanded in connection with theft and cheating cases.


Top police officials, including Jail DGP Rishi Raj Singh visited the prison and reviewed the security.
