Kolkata/IBNS: Javed Munshi, a terrorist associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba who was arrested in West Bengal's Canning, travelled to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir thrice and met LeT founder Hafiz Saeed's son Talha Saeed, media reports said.

Munshi also stayed in touch with Talha Saeed and his aide while travelling to Nepal and Bangladesh besides India.

As per reports, Munshi might have surveyed several locations in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas for the formation of an arms corridor

Police believe Munshi was working as per the instructions of Lashkar operatives.

Munshi visited Nepal often posing as a businessman, reports said.

Police say as reported by The Times of India, "Upon preliminary interrogation, he admitted to have visited Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan in the past on multiple occasions on instructions of his handlers on fake Pakistani passports.

"The accused came to Canning a few days ago to exfiltrate into Bangladesh under the instructions of Lashkar under the instructions of LeT operatives."

It is suspected that Munshi has been sent to Canning as he is familiar with the location, where he visited two years ago.

He might have been sent to Canning also to coordinate bordering crossings with Bangladesh, The Times of India reported.

Munshi travelled from Jammu and Kashmir to Delhi via bus. He stayed at a meat trader's flat in the national capital.

Through flight, Munshi reached Kolkata from Delhi. He was arrested from Canning after the Bengal STF was tipped off by the intelligence agencies.
