Kashmir violence: Death toll touches 37

Srinagar, July 14 (IBNS): The death toll in the ongoing violence that erupted after the killing of top Hizb commander Burhan Wani on Friday evening has raised to 37 with a youth succumbing to his injuries on Thursday.
Routine life remained badly affected for the sixth consecutive day on Thursday in Kashmir due to a shutdown called by United Hurriyat in protest against the deaths of protesters in clashes with Government forces.
 
Shops and business establishments remained closed while public and private transport remained off the roads due to the strike. 
 
Curfew remained in force in many parts of the Valley including old Srinagar city, while restrictions on movement of people were imposed in the rest of the areas.
 
Official sources said that Irfan Maqsood Dar son of Maqsood Dar of Kulgam district who had sustained serious injuries three days ago succumbed here, taking the death toll of protesters to 37. 
 
Reports suggested that he was thrashed ruthlessly by forces.
 
Meanwhile, mob on Thursday torched the house of Farooq Wani where Burhan and his associates were killed in Kokernag area of Anantnag district. On Wednesday, the house of an SOG man was torched at Kulgam by people.
 
The authorities will place Kashmir Valley under strict curfew on Friday to prevent any outbreak of violent protests, an official source said here.
 
”Tomorrow is crucial for us and the forces will ensure no major incident of violence taking place. The curfew would be strict in sensitive areas,” he said.
 
It is already reported that over 2000 of people are lying injured at different hospitals of Kashmir.
 
Kashmir separatist groups are house arrested by the state authorities after the killing of Burhan Muzaffar Wani.
 
On precautionary measure mobile internet, railway services and Amarnath Yatra continue to remain suspended since Friday evening.
