Kashmir unrest : Five killed, 25 injured in fresh firing

Srinagar, Aug 16 (IBNS) : Five people were killed and 25 others injured on Tuesday as security forces opened fire on protesters in two separate places of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, reports said.

The first  incident occurred at Aripanthan area in Badgum district  when protesters attacked a security force convoy.

Police say they opened fire to disperse the violent crowd that threw stones at a CRPF vehicle.

In another incident, the army opened fire on people at Larkipora village of Dooru in Anantnag district killing a teenager and wounding more than 10.

With five more deaths, the toll in the current unrest continuing since the encounter death of Burhan Wani has reached 65.

On Monday, one person was killed when security forces opened fire at protesters in Srinagar's Batamaloo area.

On Monday, a CRPF commandant and two militants were  also killed in a gun battle near a famous Sufi shrine in Srinagar. Nine security personnel were also wounded.
