New Delhi, Aug 10 (UNI) The Ministry of Home Affairs on Saturday denied reports of huge protest by more than 10,000 people in Srinagar and termed it 'fabricated and incorrect'.

"The news report originally published in Reuters and appeared in Dawn claims there was a protest involving 10,000 people in Srinagar. This is completely fabricated & incorrect", a senior Home Ministry official said.

There have been a few stray protests in Srinagar and Baramulla but none involved a crowd of more than 20 people, the official further said.

Section 144 was declared in Jammu and Kashmir soon after Parliament passed the 'J&K Re-organisation Bill' on August 6 dividing it into two Union Territories .
