Kashmir :Two soldiers, one policeman killed in militant attack on convoy

Srinagar, Aug 17 (IBNS) : Two army jawans and one policeman were killed and five soldiers injured when militants attacked a security convoy on the Srinagar-Baramullah national highway early on Wednesday, media reports said.

The Indian Express quoted an army spokesman as saying that militants attacked the convoy between 2:30 AM and 3 AM .

“Two army men and a police constable were killed in the attack, there are some injuries as well,” he said.

The attack followed an exchange of fire which continued for about 20 minutes.

This is the first attack on a security convoy since the killing of  of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani that has led the valley to a turmoil with regular incidents of mob violence and clashes with security forces.
So far, at least 65 people have died in clashes in less than 40 days.
