Srinagar/UNI: Security forces on Tuesday claimed to have prevented three youths from joining militant ranks in north Kashmir district of Bandipora.

Official sources said that following specific information, a joint team of police and Army apprehended three youth, who were on the verge of joining militant ranks, at Sumbal in Bandipora.

“The trio was indoctrinated and influenced by false narratives and motivated to take a violent path,” they said.

After proper counseling, the youth were handed over to their parents.

“Parents should take care of their wards and monitor their activities so that they don’t fall prey to anti-national elements,” the sources said.

Director General of Police (DGP), J&K, Dilbag Singh on Monday said that as many as 26 youth, who had joined militant ranks, were brought back to mainstream this year so far from different parts of the valley.

He said during the last nine months 180 militants, including top commanders, were killed in 75 operations by security forces in the valley, where 55 personnel also lost their lives since January this year.
