Srinagar, May 18 (UNI) Security force burst teargas shells and resorted to lathicharge to disperse demonstrators who were pelting stones to disrupt Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Pulwama district of south Kashmir on Saturday.

Three militants were killed in the encounter and operation has ended in Pulwama, official sources said.

Immediately after firing started at Panzgam Awantipora, people, mostly youths, hit the street raising slogans and trying to move towards encounter site.
However, security forces deployed in the area immediately swung into action and resorted to lathicharge to disperse them.

Later the forces burst teargas shells to disperse the demonstrators who were regrouping and trying to move towards encounter site. Shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic was off the roads for the second day today. On Friday business and other activities were paralsyed due to strike called by separatists against the civilian and militant killings during the Holy month of Ramadhan.
