Srinagar/UNI: Personal Security Officer (PSO) of a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader was killed by suspected militants in the summer capital, Srinagar, on Monday.

Official sources said that suspected militants fired at the guard post outside the residence of PDP leader Haji Parvaiz Ahmad at Natipora in uptown Srinagar on Monday morning.

"The PSO, identified as Selection grade Constable Manzoor Ahmad, was injured in the attack," they said, adding the wounded were immediately taken to SHMS hospital where he succumbed.

They said security forces have been rushed to the area and a search operation has been launched to trace the attackers.

"Security forces have also alerted the checkpoint within 3 km radius from the site of the attack and vehicles, particularly two-wheelers, are being checked before allowing them to move forward," they added.
